SkinTalk Online Community Terms and Conditions
Community Rules & Etiquette
Thank you for being part of our SkinTalk Online Community (Community). To ensure the best possible experience for all members, the Skin Cancer College Australasia Limited (ACN 155 488 467) (SCCA) has established these terms and conditions for participation (Terms and Conditions).
This is a great Community with which to solicit the advice of your peers, benefit from their experience, and participate in an ongoing conversation. By joining or using this Community, you agree that you have read and will follow these Terms and Conditions. You also agree to reserve discussions and shared files and content to that best suited to this Community.
Please take a moment to acquaint yourself with these important Terms and Conditions. If you have any questions regarding these Terms and Conditions, contact the member services department using the Contact Us page on this site.
In order to preserve an environment that encourages both civil and fruitful dialogue, we reserve the right to restrict, suspend or terminate your membership in this Community if you violate these Terms and Conditions.
The Rules
- Respect others. Focus on the content of posts and not on the people making them. Please extend the benefit of the doubt to newer guests and members; there’s no such thing as a stupid question.
- Respect the purpose of the community. Use the community to enable discussion, exchange ideas, and share successes, challenges, constructive feedback, questions, and goals. If you’ve found a product or service helpful, please share your experience with the group in a respectful way.
- Do not use the community as a vehicle to promote products, services or events of external organisations without the prior approval of SCCA.
- Use caution. Information posted on the discussion groups and in the libraries is available for all members to see, and any content you post will be subject to defamation, competition, consumer protection and anti-discrimination laws.
- Do not discuss active clinical cases. The community is not a consultancy service and cannot offer diagnostic or management advice on active cases. If you are uncertain about the diagnosis or management of a current case, you should refer the patient or seek a second opinion using professionally accepted methods.
- Preserve and respect patient privacy at all times. Do not post any images, reports, or other information which may allow a patient or a colleague to be identified.
- Continue to use the Skin Cancer Blog for discussion of closed clinical cases. If you have an interesting case study which may be suitable for the Blog, please send a concise overview of the case to info@skincancercollege.org.
- You are responsible for all content you post. All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal comments and materials are strictly prohibited. You may not use the Community to do or share anything that is unlawful, misleading, defamatory, discriminatory, or fraudulent.
- Respect others’ intellectual property rights. Post only content that you have personally created or have permission to use and have properly attributed to the content creator.
- When posting items in our collaborative environment, please indicate if the item is not available for sharing or re-use, or on what conditions the item or content can be shared or used. It’s also advisable to contact the owner of any material if you would like to re-use or share it, and particularly outside of this Community.
- Post your message or documents only to the most appropriate communities. This helps ensure all messages receive the best response by eliminating "noise."
Please support the Community and report any violations of these Terms and Conditions by selecting the ‘Mark As Inappropriate’ button in the drop down options of the ‘Reply’ button next to a post. Alternatively, you can contact us by email at info@skincancercollege.org. SCCA monitors the site for inappropriate content on business days, however there is a reliance on the community to support this. If any inappropriate content is brought to the attention of SCCA we will take appropriate action. SCCA can remove content that violates these Terms and Conditions.
Discussion Group Etiquette
- State concisely and clearly the topic of your comments in the subject line. This allows members to respond more appropriately to your posting and makes it easier for members to search the archives by subject.
- Send messages such as "thanks for the information" or "me, too" to individuals, not to the entire list. Do this by using the "Reply to Sender" link in every message.
- Do not send administrative messages, such as “remove me from the list,” to the group. Instead, use the web interface to change your settings or to remove yourself from a list. If you are changing email addresses, you do not need to remove yourself from the list and re‑join under your new email address. Simply change your settings.
